Attorney Profile

Sidonie ParrAttorney at Law
Sidonie Parr is the founder and principal attorney at Empowerment Legal, PLLC, an Orange Park law firm assisting clients throughout Jacksonville and the surrounding areas with veterans’ claims, immigration issues, and family law matters.
A second-generation American, Sidonie is the proud offspring of two amazing Haitian parents through whom she witnessed firsthand the struggles immigrants face in trying to enter and stay in the U.S. and obtain lawful status through procedures such as visas, Green Cards, permanent residency, and citizenship. A Navy Veteran who was stationed on the USS Iwo Jima in 2015, Sidonie’s passion for helping immigrants is matched by her desire to help military veterans struggling to get the benefits they are entitled to after incurring disability in connection with their service to this country.
Sidonie was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and is a 2012 graduate of Saint Francis College in Brooklyn. She taught in New York schools before moving to Jacksonville in 2014, ready to plant her roots in the Sunshine State. Sidonie entered law school after completing her military service, proudly graduating from the Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law of Barry University in Orlando.
Sidonie began her legal practice as an Assistant State Attorney for the 4th Judicial Circuit in Jacksonville, where she successfully handled several trials. She entered private practice as a criminal defense attorney, handling felony dockets that covered a wide range of cases, including grand theft, aggravated battery, forgery and counterfeiting, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and drug trafficking.
In opening her own law practice as Empowerment Legal, PLLC, Sidonie decided to focus her practice on the areas of law that ignited her passion for the law from the start. Watching her parents go through the process of gaining lawful status in the U.S. lit a fire for her to help others do the same. She has successfully defended against deportation removal orders as well, gaining decisive wins during this fraught moment in our nation’s history regarding immigrants. As a disabled veteran, Sidonie relates to the struggles involved with going through the VA claims and appeals process, and she has helped many veterans successfully navigate the claims system to get the benefits they need and deserve.
Sidonie is admitted to practice in courts throughout the state of Florida but can take veterans and immigration cases from anywhere in the country, since they are federal matters. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association as well as the D.W. Perkins Bar Association, the local Black lawyers association in Jacksonville, where she currently (2025) serves as the chair of the Young Lawyers Division.
Sidonie is an active member of the Jacksonville community, where she volunteers during local “ask-a-lawyer” events. A wife and mother of two beautiful young boys, she enjoys hanging out with her husband and sons outside of work. In her spare time, she also loves to throw axes, but loves to travel even more.
Sidonie is a fluent speaker of Haitian Creole, which she utilizes in her legal practice, while also providing interpretation services for Spanish speakers and speakers of other languages as needed.
